Tamil Tigers deny role in Lahore attack

The Tamil Tiger militants said Thursday that they had no connection to the recent attack on Sri Lanka's cricket team in Lahore.
In an interview with Australia's Special Broadcasting Service radio, a militant leader who identified himself as Thileepan was asked to respond to allegations that the group was responsible for the ambush Tuesday that killed six police officers and a driver.
'No, that's not true,' he said, according to a transcript of the interview. 'We don't have any connections with those people.'
Pakistani militants were widely suspected in the attack. Sri Lankan officials have refused to rule out LTTE's participation in the assault, though many analysts said such a link was highly unlikely.
The militants are locked in battle with government forces trying to destroy the group and end this country's quarter-century civil war.
