Police releases sketches of Lahore attack suspects

Pakistan Thursday released sketches of four men wanted for the ambush on Sri Lankan cricketers based on dramatic CCTV footage of the assailants calmly escaping after the siege.
Two suspects carrying rucksacks on their backs are seen ambling down the road in white trainers, apparently totally unconcerned, in footage that exposes the scale of the security lapses that allowed the gunmen to escape without trace.
They then jump onto two motorbikes behind the drivers and speed off out of the grainy picture.
Another clip shows one biker calmly parking his motorbike under a shop in a deserted backstreet. Another shows a yellow rickshaw trundling down the road.
The sketches of four men with short dark hair and dark eyes, compiled from the footage, were broadcast on television and have been displayed around Lahore, where the attack took place.
'Police have prepared sketches of four suspects with the help of CCTV footage and they have been displayed as part of an effort to track down the perpetrators,' Lahore city police chief Habibur Rehman told AFP.
Two of the suspects were shown with moustaches, one was clean-shaven and the fourth had a thin trace of hair on his upper lip.
Up to 12 men armed with grenades, a rocket-launcher and automatic weapons opened fire in Tuesday's assault, which killed eight Pakistanis and wounded seven Sri Lankan cricketers.
'Investigators are working round the clock to track down the perpetrators and the terrorists. Raids are being mounted, leads are being followed. We are doing our best to unravel the conspiracy,' said Habib.
'We believe we are on the right track in the investigation,' he added.
A senior police official said officers have widened the investigation to other cities elsewhere in Punjab province — the most populous in Pakistan — such as the town of Dera Ghazi Khan and the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
Pakistan has offered a reward of 10 million rupees for information about the militants behind the deadly ambush.
